doctor's note

My name is Dr. Young K. Park.

I am a board certified family physician here in the Indianapolis area. I have been working for Community Health Network and Westview Hospital for the past 22 years.

I was originally born in South Korea and immigrated to the United States when I was thirteen years old. I was exposed to traditional Chinese medicine while helping my father at his clinic during my high school years. His medical skills and passion toward healing patients inspired me to become a doctor as a young college student. During this time, I also realized that health is not only the absence of disease, but also an active pursuit of wellbeing. I also discovered my passion for preventative medicine, and thus strongly believe that the inclusion of patient education and behavior modification in medical practice is far superior to simply superficially treating an illness.

At Des Moines University, I learned not only osteopathic manipulation skills but also was trained to first consider the person within the patient. I have practiced throughout my medical career with this doctrine in mind. Currently at my clinic, I address the full range of physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and environmental influences affecting my patient’s health. It is a rewarding experience each and every day, and I truly believe that my patients feel the difference with this approach to medicine.

During these years I have been practicing integrated medicine, and I have established a strong holistic medical practice that integrates family practice, acupuncture, cupping, Chinese herbs, osteopathic manipulative therapy, and functional medicine. I have served patients from more than 400 cities, and have established a large patient base during this time. Currently I see over five thousand patients throughout the year, and I have established strong relationships with them with my unique approach to medicine.

Currently, I have been serving as a medical director of Integrative Medicine at the Community Health Network in Indianapolis.

Ever since medical training I’ve had a vision of establishing one of the finest integrative medicine departments in the nation where patients receive total care within a medical setting which offers comprehensive health exam and treatment options utilizing both conventional medicine and alternative medicine modalities.

Modern Cupping Therapy Book

Why Write a Book About Cupping Therapy?

There are many cupping books available but few are written by board-certified medical physicians like Dr. Park or bring such a vast amount of education and experience on the topic. Dr. Park believes that whoever masters cupping techniques gains a tremendously powerful tool that will not only help patients with routine medical problems but also those with more complex medical issues, such as fibromyalgia and autoimmune disorders. Dr. park also feels strongly that schools of oriental medicine can better highlight the importance of cupping therapy. Traditional western medical schools, too, would benefit from a curriculum in cupping therapy.
